How much effort do you think should and analyst put in to find sperm cells to prove sexual assault? As a jury member would you want to see that the analyst found sperm OR would you be convinced if the analyst detected DNA, such as a Y chromosome indicating male contribution to the stain? This is a question that crime labs are now addressing and it's been a topic of some discussion in the courts and courts of appeals.
