Lights, Camera, Action!
Your boss has asked you to create an event that would bring families and the community together. In the past, she has tried using flyers, posters, and phone blasts to garner excitement. Unfortunately, this has not been very successful as family and community turnout was very low. You, the energetic and creative employee, suggested that she try something new, such as a video. As a reward for your sharp thinking you have been tasked with creating not only the event, but also the video advertisement that will be streamed on the website and shared via e-mail with families and community members. For this discussion, you will create a video message explaining the event that will bring educators, family, and community together.
To prepare for this discussion,
- Please refer to the Week 4 Guidance for further tips and examples that will support your success with this assignment.
- Read Chapter 8: Communicating With, Supporting, and Collaborating With Families in Children & Families: Understanding Behavior & Dynamics.
- For your initial post, you will be recording your response using the record tool within the Canvas discussion forum. For assistance with how to do this, please review the How Do I Record a Video Using the Rich Content Editor as a Student?Links to an external site. web page.
In your initial post,
- Describe the topic of the event.
- Explain the five Ws of the event, paying careful attention to the “why”:
- Who
- What
- Where
- When
- Why
- Articulate how this event would benefit the partnership between children, families, and the community.
